Hi,
I get many such messages when booting a self compiled 2.6.25.3 kernel
(with make-kpkg) that has an accompanying initrd.image.
The problem occurs *before* the init script of the initrd image gets
executed because that script starts with a message "Loading, please
wait..." and that message is issued *after* all the messages.
So somebody in the kernel is running a modprobe.
However, the *problem never occurs when using Debian kernels*.
It always occurs on my self-compiled kernels that use --initrd.
When you google that message you get 1000's of hits and none have a
solution, most say "but modules.dep *is* present in that library". Yes
in the root fs, but not in the ramfs when the modprobe is issued.
Anybody shed light on this?
Hugo
