Hello,

I suggest you take a look to the startkde output. For that, you should
firstly create a script somewhere containing this command :

/media/sda8/KDE4/kde/bin/startkde 2>&1 | tee startkde.log

Then, modify the .desktop file to point to this script, then look into
the generated startkde.log for errors.

My bet : some environment variables such as KDEDIRS and KDE_HOME need to
be defined. This could be done in this little startup script, just
before calling startkde. You'll find more information about these
