KDevelop3 uses a minimal IDEAL implementation, without some of the
features kmdi had and without the possibility to choose other ui-methods
(like toplevel).

KDevelop4 has a newly written ui-library called sublime which aims at
providing the featureset of kmdi, without all the problems. Its also
independant of KDevelop4 itself and thus should be easy to integrate
into other apps.
