AFAIK KDE4 still requires gcc 3.3 as minimum version. Eventually (don't
have a way to test) that version might work quite well and just that
specific 4.1 version is broken and thus can't be used. So you always
have an option of downgrading and if kde4 doesn't build with gcc 3.3
then you may file bugreports.
