[Mingw-users] How can I tell whether my prog is running on cmd.exe or bash?

My console code behaves differently when running in a DOS box and when 
running on Cygwin's bash. Can anyone suggest a way to find out what a 
program is running under? I guess that I could check environment 
variables, or try running uname, but this seems kludgey.
