Shortcuts is how Cygwin implements symlinks. The problem with it is
that native Windows applications do not know what to do with shortcuts.
I therefore disabled symlinks from MSYS because MinGW binaries couldn't
use them.

I would love to see junction points and hard links work properly in MSYS
for the symlink function though. There are programs like junction or
link that are freely available from Microsoft and usable within the MSYS
console that manage junction points and hard links. Junction points are
available on XP and hard links before then as long as the file system
was NTFS. The problem I have with the junction and link binaries is
that they are backward with the arguments so that you have to specify
the destination before the source.
