I would call that "--enable-quiet-build", so that users don't get
confused into thinking that this is necessary for e.g. the '-quiet'
option. There also does not seem to be a corresponding line in the
'--help' output explaining what the option does. Other than that, if the
patch behaves as described (which a quick glance does not contradict,
based on my limited comprehension of make syntax), it seems to satisfy
my objections.
