Hi all I like your suggestion for the name. It's the trend now in world politics to invent the acronym first then fit the name to it ;-)I was thinking more about the other projects to support webcams. I like the idea of being able to add/remove chipsets, I just think we should look at any other drivers which are available for webcams under linux and start to converge. This is particularly true if you are developing a common interface for disparate chipsets, the more webcam support projects which are involved in that the better chance of it becoming a complete and common solution.

That way it seem possible to add or remove chipset at compilation times. How many other webcam driver packages out there? Should we be considering a merge into or from the other drivers? As this package supports more and different chipsets, it makes less sense to have separate packages for other types of camera.I also like Gerard's solution of suffix with a number, but I think that would be better done as part of the version number of the package. Spca5xx work for kernel 2.4.x and 2.6.x until now. For July i have to change only 2.6.x kernel should be supported with v4l2. After some discussion the decision is to provided in June the spca5xx-final with both kernel and start a new branch. Some people suggest i changed the spca5xx name. For the story i would like to follow the spca road :) but ofcourse our module have nothing todo with Sunplus despite his name . So if you have some idea post to the list :) I suggest GLWD -> Generic Linux Webcams Driver Bests regardsSounds good, maybe adding a 1 completes the new name (GLWD1)? So for the future other packages (or when package needs to be split) can have GLWD2.
