Re: [Spca50x-devs] Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC1

Hello,

I'm am new on this list and I've currently just "lurked" at the list for few
weeks, so I'm not really experimented on this driver (and driver development
in general).

I have the same camera and tried few hacks to make it work, but currently
without success (and I don't have time to work on that right now). Here is
what i guess about it:
- The VC0321 chipset seems similar to the VC0301, but with some little
differences ( you may find some info about how it works for zc0301 here:
http://zc0302.sourceforge.net/zc0302.php?page=docs)
- the sensor is OV7660 (found in Windows Registry info)
The simple (and dirty) test I did was to make linux do exactely the same USB
commands as Windows does, but I did not manage to get data (even if sometimes
I get the red light of the camera working).
In particular, at the end of the init process, on Windows, there is a call
to "URB_FUNCTION_RESET_PIPE" and "URB_FUNCTION_GET_CURRENT_FRAME_NUMBER" that
seem not really existing in Linux. I wonder if it may be the problem.

finally, I think that it's probably just a simple detail that prevent it to
work correctly (at least for basic functionnality), but I did not find it
when I made my tests and I had no time to investigate more.

sincerely

Emmanuel Araman
