This is a copy of a message I sent earlier today (used an alternate email
ian1959). Before I joined the list. Sorry for the duplication.
I've been trying to get my webcam working and initially posted in video4linux
list. The response from there directed me to here, so I hope you are able to
help.
My configuration so far (from linux howtos/Webcam-Howto) is as follows:
"dmesg | less"
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
Linux video capture interface: v1.00
spca5xx: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag.
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5
hub 1-2:1.0: USB hub found
hub 1-2:1.0: 2 ports detected

I then tried to mount.
linux:/home/ian.suse # mount -t usbdevfs none /proc/bus/usb
mount: unknown filesystem type 'usbdevfs'
When I try to initiate the cam with gqcam or spcaview it just locks up my
system. No error messages just locks and I need to force reboot (hit reset
button)
My system is AMD 2600x, 1500mb pc3200 ram, Radeon 9600 256mb graphics - using
ATI drivers.
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to include as much information as
possible.
Cheers,
Ian...
