hey all,
i'm experiencing some strange problems, trying to get a vimicro cam
working with your driver. the module compiles nicely, loads fine,
usbcore picks it up and the following lines pops up in the syslog:
usbcore: registered new driver spca5xx
/usr/local/src/spca-5xx-20060501/drivers/usb/spca5xx.c: spca5xx driver
00.60.00 registered
so far so good, but when i try out spcaview, it gives me:
Using video device /dev/video0.
Initializing v4l.
ERROR opening V4L interface
: No such device
which seems odd, because i'm really sure VIDEO_DEV is in the kernel
(also tried the virtual video driver, which works fine).
i'm using kernel 2.6.17.6 with the video_dev and video_v4l1_compat
compiled into the kernel. i also tried to have these as modules and
without the backward compatibility, but nothing worked.
i know c, but have fairly little experience with kernel-stuff and none
at all with v4l, so i'm left puzzled here. i'd be happy to spend some
time to try and solve this, but if you have any hints as to where this
is going wrong, that'd be most welcome. tnx!
cheers,
groente
