Parag,
There is a long story with spca Linux kernel module. Starting with spca50x to 
spca5xx and now gspca.
Why gspca ? 
Our module start with the Sunplus chipsets support(spca) specially the spca50x 
familly. After sometimes we support the spca5xx chipset to. And now, a lot of 
others chips familly (Vimicro Etoms Sonix Pixart ....) so our name is 
confusing .We have discuss how to change the name without loss our project 
story on the list and gspca is born :)
Why spca50x, spca5xx, gspca is not merged in the main kernel:
Our module claim to provided video for the Linux end user. We are more free to 
decode proprietary video codec outside the main kernel. 
spca50x, spca5xx, gspca are all GPL.
Gspca is not yet ready for production the package provided:
gspcav1 : spca5xx re-design v4l1 with 220 webcams support
gspcav2 : the new v4l2 support only the Vimicro chipset at the moment.
gspcagui: A smart web-caming application avi,picture,zoom,roi and so on, v4l1 
shoud become v4l2 soon.
